London: Nonesuch Press, 1931. First edition thus. Full tan and brick red morocco, five raised bands to spine, gilt title panel, double gold filleting to front and rear boards. Fore- and lower edges untrimmed, top edge trimmed and gilt. Marbled endpapers. Lacking slipcases. Extremely sparse spot-staining to Iliad, still near fine, Odyssey spine darkened a shade with a couple tiny chips to fore edge, still fine. Both volumes in custom mylar covers. Item #212574
Limited to 1450 copies (Iliad) and 1300 copies (Odyssey) of which these are stated "out of series" and 1019, respectively. Translation by Alexander Pope. Original publisher's insert with opening instructions included. Many pages left unopened. Greek and English translation, facing pages.
