As autumn settles in, the world around us begins to shift. The days grow shorter, a chill settles into the air, and the season itself seems to move us from one world into the next. With that spirit of transition in mind, our October Catalyst turns its attention to the literature of Other Worlds—space exploration, alternate futures, and unsettling possibilities. Filled with classics of science fiction along with a few discoveries that may spark your next literary or collecting adventure, we’re sure these offerings will intrigue.

As summer opens the year’s next chapter, we are delighted to welcome you to our June Catalyst––a gathering devoted to the art of illustration, imagination, and the enduring pleasures of the printed page. This month, we turn to books made for unhurried discovery: from the masterworks of the Golden Age Illustrators to deluxe limited editions; from the timeless enchantments of fairy tales to beloved classics reimagined through extraordinary visual artistry. Whether your tastes run to illustrative decadence, finely produced private press editions, or contemporary treasures, this Catalyst celebrates books that remind us summer is the perfect season for wonder, escape, and beautiful storytelling. Each of these has sparked our imagination, and we hope the same for you––that something here may be waiting to inspire your next collection.

As we settle into 2026, we’re delighted to share our first Catalyst of the new year—a curated miscellany of recent acquisitions that have already begun to spark excitement in our stacks. We hope these selections ignite your own collecting imagination, just as they have ours.

Our August Catalyst gathers together a collection of modern photography and illustration. Presented here is an excellent group of signed, limited, and first editions of the work of Edward and Brett Weston, along with a wonderful selection of modern illustrators including Winsor McCay, Ralph Bakshi, Frank Frazetta, and Wallace Wood.
