Known for his dark fantasy and science fiction, Neil Gaiman entered the world of children's books with his novella Coraline. Although this story of a young girl in the Other World started in 1990, it was not published until twelve years later. The dark fairy tale was received well, winning such notable awards as the Hugo, Nebula, and Bram Stoker. It was also later turned into a stop-motion film, musical, opera, and even a video game.
