ESPECIALLY RARE DENVER FINE PRESS
Founded in 1998 by retired English professor Robert Dean of Lakewood, Colorado, Micawber Fine Editions specialized in finely produced, illustrated limited editions of literary classics. Dean’s stated aim was to showcase emerging artists, pairing their work with canonical texts that would both complement and elevate their visual interpretation.
This edition of The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle, illustrated by Jason Powers, was limited to 150 slipcased copies signed by both the illustrator and Robert Dean, with an additional 10 lettered copies issued hors commerce.
The present copy is unnumbered and was almost certainly retained by the publisher. Unlike the standard issue, which was housed in a slipcase, this example is preserved in a publisher’s clamshell case and includes ten signed, loose-laid illustrations housed in a window pocket within the cover — an enhancement not present in the regular limitation.
