FIGHT OF THE PUBLISHERS

Three publisher's clamored over the rights to Eight Cousins, before Alcott had even written it, with Roberts Brothers eventually claiming them for the 1875 first edition. Following spoiled and sickly Rose Campbell as she goes to live with her aunts, uncles, and seven boy cousins after the death of her parents, Alcott's Aunt-Hill series incorporated the elements she was loved for: strong feminine influence and a realistic coming-of-age story.

This charming 1923 reprint features a Coloradan owner's inscription dated the year after publication.
