HYPOTHETICALLY 8,000 MILES ACROSS SIBERIA

Cornelius Rost, an Austrian citizen conscripted into German forces, allegedly escaped a Soviet labor camp after being captured during the fall of Axis powers. Josef M. Bauer, a German novelist, told of Rost's 8,000-mile trek across the freezing wastelands of Siberia in his most well-known work, As Far as My Feet Will Carry Me, agreeing to use the alias Clemens Forell to protect Rost's identity. After his death, Roth's account faced skepticism as key details about his escape failed verification.

Presented here is a first U.S. edition, first printing.
