A VENUSIAN REVOLT IN THE SHADOW OF BURROUGHS

The first volume in Otis Adelbert Kline’s “Grandon” trilogy, The Planet of Peril launches a planetary sword-play adventure written in open imitation of Edgar Rice Burroughs. Its hero, Robert Grandon, becomes entangled in a Venusian slave rebellion, setting the pattern for the interplanetary exploits that follow. The novel first appeared serially in six parts in Argosy All-Story Weekly in 1929 before publication in book form later that year.

This first edition, along with retaining its original dust jacket, is additionally distinguished by Kline’s signature on the front free endpaper.

[Anatomy of Wonder, 3-31; Curry, 280; Bleiler, 171].
